As 2010 comes to a close I have been discussing what 2011 could bring and between the team at GFC, we have put  together a few ideas.

New Ladies Class

From Weds the 5th January Kat will be doing a new Ladies class.  The class will be a mix of Thai Boxing and exercises designed especially for women.  The class will start at 7.15pm and for the whole of January will be a special offer price of just £4.00.

Kids Classes

For the time being the kid’s classes will stay as they are, Monday and Wednesday at 6.00.  If they do get that busy we need to split the classes again we will do.

When there is an interclub coming up we will put on extra training for those participating, we need to know if it’s easier to do an extra half hour starting at 5.30 or would you prefer the Tuesday sparring class to start again.

In addition to the regular classes Luke has also started doing short half hour private lessons.  Luke has three British Titles to his name and is obviously very experienced, being so young also enables him to relate to the other juniors as well, so if anyone is interested in booking a lesson with him then please let me know.

The last Kids class of the year, Weds 22nd Dec will be an Xmas Party for the kids. Fancy dress optional.

Grading

We will be holding a grading on Saturday the 18th February.  This will be for both adults and juniors.

Starting in the New Year Kat will be doing a grading class on at the weekend for those juniors wanting to do the grading.

We need to know who is interested and what days you prefer.  This will be a six week course starting as soon as possible after the break and will cover all aspects of the grading some of which we don’t really touch on in the classes.  For adults wanting to do the grading we will be touching on some aspects in the classes but would suggest small groups of you interested would be advised to book Private lessons as a group.

Private lessons

Private lessons are the best way to improve your skills, smaller groups based purely on your skill levels and requirements.  All our instructors are available for private lessons at different times and all charge the same.  In Particular Darren and Kat are available during the working day for those who are working shifts as well of those who want to brush up on something in particular.  For prices see the notice boards in the gym.

New Instructor - Martin Shivnan

Following Rob Teale’s move to Doncaster his Tuesday night class will now be taught be Martin Shivnan.  Martin is very experienced Thai Boxer who has trained with us for around ten years now but has also trained a lot in Thailand just recently.  I’m sure he will add another new dimension to the team.

Baz’s Hurt Locker

Don’t forget we have a strength and conditioning specialist in Barry White who does the Friday night circuit class.  Barry is also available for private lessons.

January Special Offers

In January I will be running a number of special offers.  The price for Monthly training by standing order will increase to £38.00 with effect from February 1st.  Anyone signing up in January however will be able to keep the current price of £35.00 a month.  If you sign up, or are already signed up, but agree to a term of not less than twelve months, then we will reduce the payment to just £32.00 a month... That means if you train on average just twice a week, you will save over £120.00.  If anyone is willing to pay for a year’s training in advance the cost will be just £300, saving you again £200 plus.  In you want details on any of these special offers please see me as soon as possible.

Referee course, Interclub and fights.

On the 12th March I will running a referee course with Tony Myers.  I know not many of you are interested in refereeing but this will be an excellent opportunity for those of you who are.

The following day I will be running an interclub and novice show at the Heywood Civic Centre.  So if anyone wants to take part in either the interclub or possibly even competing needs to let me know as soon as possible.  I will also be looking for a couple of small sponsors for that show, anyone with any ideas let me know please.

Xmas training times

We will be closing the gym on Thursday 23rd December, all the classes will be as normal until then.  The gym will then reopen on Tuesday the 4th January.  There may be some classes going on during the break but you will need to check with Mike and Michael.  I will still be available for private lessons on some days.

Note from Michael - My last Sunday class of the year will be19th December, come down and we'll have a bit of a blast and make it a 2010 send off - I'll have a week off and be back to kick you all in to shape when you all come back full of Christmas Stuffing in the New Year on Sunday 9th Jan!!!  ;o)

New Year

Everyone starts the New Year with good intentions, hopefully this year we can assist people in achieving some of their goals.  Just let me remind everyone that the longer you leave it to get back into training after a break the harder it is.  So I hope to see as many of you as possible back in the gym early in the New Year.

Wishing you all the best for the festive season and the New Year

Darren
